Comment: I shop at Wal-Mart in my area; this Christmas season I was shopping there and no music was playing in the store (when it had been way before Thanksgiving & it was Christmas music). This particular day was later in December and I asked a store official for help in finding a certain item and proceeded to ask her why was there no Christmas music playing. She stated that 'some' folks were offended by it & I said 'what if I am offended by it not being played?"

Comment: I shop at Walmart frequently. I never heard "Merry Christmas" only "Happy Holidays". I always responded with "Merry Christmas". One cashier responded with "You can't say that these days". I am disappointed with my Walmart store's response to Christmas.

The cashier at my register and the one next to it were both wishing people a Merry Christmas. Happy to hear them saying Merry Christmas I did do my shopping there and was wished a Merry Christmas at the checkout too.

Comment: In this day and age where gift cards have replaced most traditional Christmas gifts, you can find cards offered from just about every store and website. I have been looking at differnt gift cards from different places and found Wal-Mart to have a Merry Christmas gift card. I emailed them to thank them for that fact and they wrote back letting me know that their "customers are the boss." My hat goes off to them.

Comment: The Troy, Mo. store is not selling nativity scenes. I asked a worker and she said none were ordered. I asked for a manager to ask why. She said they didn't sell good. I respectfully said how sad it was and if the real meaning of Christmas wasn't important enough to set up even a small display, I would not shop for Christmas there. I thanked her for coming to speak with me. I returned all my gifts to the shelf. I'm asking people in my community to nicely let the store know they are dissappointed in the store decision.

They had a banner on the outside of the store that said Merry Christmas and Rocky, the greeter, wished our family a Merry Christmas upon entering the store. It put me in a great mood instantly! Comment: I was at Mortan, IL Wal-Mart and there was no Christmas music playing, and I ask several clerks and they said "yea I don't know why." But as I left the manager passed by me and I told him his clerks in the store were excellent, and then I proceded to ask why there was no Christmas music, and he said " Well only in the Christmas department, but not the rest of the store." He said he would tell corporate that I asked. ...p.s. My Sis went to WalMart in Carlinville, IL and had the same experience.

Comment: For the past seven years that I have lived in South Carolina, the Wal-mart stores in the Greenville area have had Salvation Army bell ringers outside of their store. I consider this a Christmas friendly rating. I have not noticed any Christian-negative signage anywhere in the store. The checkout clerks have also been consistant in wishing me a Merry Christmas; not just Happy holidays.

Comment: My family visited Walmart a couple of nights ago and saw a young boy and older man ringing the bell for the Salvation Army! They were also singing Christmas carols. I heard two employees, one at the door greeting people, and the one ringing us up commenting on how much fun they were making "bell ringing" for Christmas. Each of them also said: "Merry Christmas" as we were leaving. How refreshing!

When exiting the store and wishing the bag checker a Merry Christmas - she said "you, too". I was helped by a man in sporting goods and when I left the departmrnt we both said "Merry Christmas". I was told by an associate that corporate would not allow it because it "offended" certain people. I can only assume it offended atheists and the ACLU who are the usual culprits in this debate. The only decorations are the ones provided by vendors and the cardboard package cutouts at the registers that read: Save money Live better. There is no Christmas music except on the late shift when someone evidently brings in their own to play while they work. Can't find much of what I want at the Bedford,Va store anymore anyway. Comment: My wife and I went to the West Plains, MO, Wal-Mart and I asked an employee if Wal-Mart still sold Nativity scenes. She told us that Wal-Mart did not carry them last year nor this year. We also looked for wrapping paper that contained Christian themes; however, could not find any. I would love to see Wal-Mart stock Nativity scenes and other Christ-centered merchandise next Christmas. I did notice the words "Christmas Shop" above the entrance of the Christmas department. That was a plus!

In years past I have bought all my Christmas cards at Wal-Mart because they had really good cards that presented the true meaning of Christmas, there was a nice selection of them and of course the price was good. There is a note at the desk saying "Happy Holidays" Wal mart(location). Another note says it is appropriate to also say Merry Christmas. So being a Christian I say both since our store is highly multi cultured in employment and in shoppers. Our Christmas offerings include the nativity as well as more secular decor. Comment: I had a very friendly cashier at Wal-Mart at 1st and Wadsworth in Lakewood. She was excited about Christmas especially because her daughter was coming home from Iraq. She asked me what Christmas song I wanted her to sing. I had been thinking about how wonderful the words were to "Joy To The World." I asked her to sing that song, so she sang both the 1st and 2nd verse. Lots of customers were around but she wasn't ashamed to sing out. People began to chuckle because it was so unique and very sweet of her.

The closest thing to Christ's birth was a story ABOUT the little drummer boy. Christ was included in the story. I would like to see at least half of the books be about the birth of Christ.

Comment: My husband and I wanted to purchase a manger for our daughter and grandkids but the Wal-Mart in Perryville, MO did not have any mangers. The only thing that we found in the entire store that indicated the reason for the season was a picture with music you could hang on your door. No manger, no figures of Mary, Joseph or the infant Jesus. I found this very discouraging.

I saw wrapping paper, Christmas cards, gift cards, books and many other items that had "Merry Christmas" on them. Also, a recent TV ad said "Merry Christmas", although it was very, very brief & at the end of the commercial spot. Could have been more prominent. Great job overall. Thank you Wal-Mart!

(One review mentioned that Wal Mart is one of the only retailers that still allow the Salvation Army to stand in front of their stores. Comment: I am aware that no store has an abundance of (christian) Christmas items, however I have seen many things at walmart that have made me believe that they are open to the idea of CHRISTmas. I have see new toys they brought out for Christmas. One was a praying babydoll. I can respect a company that tries to keep their costumers happy even if it means not completly excluding Christ from Christmas. Since that is such a popular thing to do right now.

Comment: I have no problem with employees saying "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings" since they don't have any idea which a customer celebrates. I do have problems if a store PROHIBITS the use of "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hannukah" since we're spending money on gifts for THOSE specifica holidays. Hello, if a customer is buying Christmas cards, Christmas tree, Christmas decorations, it's a safe bet they celebrate Christmas. Thanks to Wal-Mart for being inclusive to their customers rather than excluding customers who celebrate Christmas.

Comment: I was there at 5 a.m. today and did NOT hear a Merry Christmas!! Last year they were forbidden to wish us a Merry Christmas. This year, I will fill up my carts as usual, pay at the register, (I am a BIG spender!) and if they are banned again I will have it ALL put back and take my hard earned money somewhere else. If they are that concerned about their employees saying something offensive, they best check the language they're using in and out of the store!! Merry Christmas Walmart!

Comment: I found our Walmart to be Christmas friendly. I especially liked all of the cards that are 'on the ball' about who Jesus is. I think we should be careful about classifying them as negligent because one of their employees says 'Happy Holidays'. That may be that persons choice, not a push from the store. Besides, when did that become a 'wrong' thing to say? Let's not get so hung up on the little things, that we miss the chance to be the compassionate example Christ calls us to be! Comment: I was excited to hear a Christmas CD playing while we shopped for Christmas trees. Not only was it a Christmas CD, but it was a very Christ-centered song that was playing. I support only stores that support Christmas, so, based on this and the fact that they had many boxes of Christian Christmas cards for sale, I will do a large majority of my Christmas shopping at Wal-mart this year.

I was told that if I wanted them the I could order them on-line. The amazing thing was that there was no shortage of "holiday" items like Santa, bears, toys, lights, etc. It appears that Christ is not welcome at Wal Mart.

While shopping in SAM's last week I was handed a "holiday" print advertisement that had "holiday card" headings for Kwanzaa and Hannukah and Ramadan, but no mention of Christmas except on a few of the cards pictured in the ad. Plus, when did "happy holidays" become like curse words? We've said that for years, but it didn't become an issue until they pushed people NOT to say, "Merry Christmas". We both countered with "Merry Christmas," but we were met with pretty much a blank stare. I used to buy all my Christmas decorations, Christmas gifts, Christmas party supplies, and unrelated Christmas expeditures solely at Wal-Mart. Since Wal-Mart has slacked and given in political correctness, I only spent $50 on a gift card last year, when I used to spend hundreds of dollars. Comment: The Walmart I am writing about is located in South Bend, on Portage Road. They have Christmas CD's being played that mention Christmas and Jesus. There are workers thier who are not afraid to say Merry Christmas. I I will continue to shop at stores that do not hide Jesus birth. The store I mentioned does still answer the phone with Happy Holidays.One reason I believe stores say Happy Holidays on the phone is because there are so many holidays in November.What do you think?

Comment: Not only is Walmart Christmas friendly, but I noticed in several stores throughout East Texas where we've shopped in recent months, personnel at the doors have been allowed to wear buttons saying things like "Jesus Loves You", and have said "God Bless You" directly to me, which leads me to believe that they are not censored by their supervisors for doing so. It was a marked difference from shopping in the stores in the Washington DC suburbs where I lived last Christmas.

Comment: In the past, we have ordered Christmas photo cards from Wal-Mart. This year their website has a category for Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and "Holiday" cards. We didn't place our order with them this year. We are doing our online ordering from other sources this year as well. Simply because it's Christmas and we wanted to order Christmas cards to send.

Comment: Wal-Mart appears really on-board with Christmas this year -- even more than last year. They refer to a section of the store and their online presences with the terms "Christmas shop."

Comment: I was so glad to see a huge sign that said 'Christmas Shop' where all the decorations were. Way to go Walmart. Just when we were about to go somewhere else. Thanks and we'll be there alot because we're doing a giving tree project.
