Comment: I shop at Wal-Mart in my area; this Christmas season I was shopping there and no music was playing in the store (when it had been way before Thanksgiving & it was Christmas music). This particular day was later in December and I asked a store official for help in finding a certain item and proceeded to ask her why was there no Christmas music playing. She stated that 'some' folks were offended by it & I said 'what if I am offended by it not being played?"

Comment: The Walmart I visit has clerks that openly state that they cannot wish anyone a "Merry Christmas." I find this to be in the offensive zone, not that I am offended, really, but the idea that they are instructed to not "offend" anyone is ridiculous at best.

Comment: I could not find a Nativity Scene in the Camden, S.C. store - although in past they have carried Nativity Scenes. When exiting the store and wishing the bag checker a Merry Christmas - she said "you, too". Also, I purchased a number of gift cards and I could find none that had a religious theme - only one group of cards had "Merry Christmas". I was very disappointed.

Comment: ALL of these retailers may display SIGNS for a merry Christmas, but where can I purchase a card, wrapping paper, ornaments , house decor, etc. that does not glorify the snow flake, the penquin, the polar bear, the woodland creatures, the igloo, etc. in stead of the Christ?

Followup Comment: My comment is really aimed at buyers who purchase the Christmas cards, wrapping paper, the ornaments, house decor, etc. I rarely see a Santa, an angel, a shepherd, a star of Bethlehem,a manger, etc. on many so called Christmas items. So you can WISH me a merry Christmas, but I would like to see it on many more CHRISTMAS items.

I was helped by a man in sporting goods and when I left the departmrnt we both said "Merry Christmas". I had to go to Customer Service to check out, and when I did, the lady that helped me also said "Merry Christmas". When I thanked her for saying "Merry Christmas" she said thad that her manager wanted the employees to say that. I told her to thank him.

Comment: I recently was shopping in the local Wal-Mart and noticed the absence of Christmas music while they eagerly sought out my shopping dollars. I was told by an associate that corporate would not allow it because it "offended" certain people. I can only assume it offended atheists and the ACLU who are the usual culprits in this debate. I am so tired of the PC in this country. We are turning into a secular European country which is exactly what our founders fought to escape. Wake up America before you lose everything you hold dear.

The only decorations are the ones provided by vendors and the cardboard package cutouts at the registers that read: Save money Live better. There is no Christmas music except on the late shift when someone evidently brings in their own to play while they work. Can't find much of what I want at the Bedford,Va store anymore anyway. Comment: The Christmas-spirit at Wal-Mart:
"Our local Wal-mart has a 'Send a card' Military display upon entry to the store. You can hand write a message to a soldier. A large journal is provided .... I sent my thoughts of appreciation for their sacrifice they are making so I can be w/my family and enjoy each holiday. I think of the families that feel the absence of their father, mother, brother, sister, etc. Their sacrifice makes it possible so we may enjoy the freedoms to celebrate w/our families. I pray they come home safely to their families."

There is a note at the desk saying "Happy Holidays" Wal mart(location). Another note says it is appropriate to also say Merry Christmas. So being a Christian I say both since our store is highly multi cultured in employment and in shoppers. Our Christmas offerings include the nativity as well as more secular decor. Comment: Wal-Mart in Palm Coast FL. does not have one sign that says Merry Christmas. They have many Christmas items for sale including Christmas Cards.
And out next to the garden center were the decorations are I heard Silent Night, but not in the store. The Salvation Army is in front of the
front door with bells and collection plates.

If I see no Merry Christmas or displays about Jesus, I will instantly leave and try other stores until I find ones who believe in CHRISTMAS and is not ashamed to show it. Those will be the stores who get my business from now on. We must take a stand and let everyone know we want Jesus back in our lives.

Comment: When shopping at the Wal-Mart in Elk Grove, CA I was delighted to find several very overtly "Christian" Christmas cards from which to choose, all including Jesus' name. In fact, I had a hard time narrowing my selection down! There were also several nativity sets to choose from.

Comment: A friend and I in both Moline, Ill., and La Porte, IN, in the last week and a half, put money in the Salvation Army kettle. The bell-ringer said, "Happy Holidays." We both countered with "Merry Christmas," but we were met with pretty much a blank stare. (I checked Walmart only because I had to choose something, and it did happen in front of Walmart one of those times. It would not affect my shopping, though.

Comment: I was at Wal-Mart in North Spokane that, when asked about lay-away, I was told all Wal=Mart stores done away with. This doesn't help families on budgets who want to spread payments out. Not to mention the Customer Service rep said Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. When I said "Merry Christmas", she gave me an annoyed look. I took all my Christmas shopping to KMart.

Comment: Checker used the word "holiday" instead. I went to purchase some decorations for Thanksgiving and could not find a thing - Christmas is turning into a circus in the retail world - this is very sad and dishonors our Lord and Savior.
I only shop here because of the prices but I would truly shop somewhere else if a similar store were available in this area.

Comment: Our local Wal Mart has dropped the Giving Tree from it's store and will no longer let the Lions club sell their Christmas Trees in their parking lot, nor would they let them put up a sign to tell the community where they could be found. They have sold trees in this location for at least 10 years. New company policy.

Comment: Holiday only was painted on the outside of the enterance doors. I used to buy all my Christmas decorations, Christmas gifts, Christmas party supplies, and unrelated Christmas expeditures solely at Wal-Mart. Since Wal-Mart has slacked and given in political correctness, I only spent $50 on a gift card last year, when I used to spend hundreds of dollars. Now, I refuse to shop at any store ANY TIME OF THE YEAR if they are not 100% respectful to my Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas!!

Comment: The Walmart I am writing about is located in South Bend, on Portage Road. They have Christmas CD's being played that mention Christmas and Jesus. There are workers thier who are not afraid to say Merry Christmas. I
I will continue to shop at stores that do not hide Jesus birth.
The store I mentioned does still answer the phone with Happy Holidays. One reason I believe stores say Happy Holidays on the phone is because there are so many holidays in November. What do you think?

Comment: The title Christmas is used extensively in ads, signage, and,by employees (associates?)! Good selection of Christian Christmas cards as well as good selection of Bibles, Christian books. Our store in Oceanside, CA just remodeled to include full food store is a "great" one-stop Christmas shop. Walmart does it right! Merry Christmas!!!

Comment: Not only is Walmart Christmas friendly, but I noticed in several stores throughout East Texas where we've shopped in recent months, personnel at the doors have been allowed to wear buttons saying things like "Jesus Loves You", and have said "God Bless You" directly to me, which leads me to believe that they are not censored by their supervisors for doing so. It was a marked difference from shopping in the stores in the Washington DC suburbs where I lived last Christmas.

Comment: Our local Wal-Mart refused to allow the "Giving Tree" in the lobby this year. They also are not allowing the Lions Club to sell Christmas Trees on the far end of the parking lot where no one parks. They said it is corporate policy. I don't think Sam Walton would have approved of this.

Comment: In the past, we have ordered Christmas photo cards from Wal-Mart. This year their website has a category for Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and "Holiday" cards. We didn't place our order with them this year. We are doing our online ordering from other sources this year as well. Simply because it's Christmas and we wanted to order Christmas cards to send.
